Iati Seguros services explanatory video(2013)
Using animation and a more relaxed tone, this short video outlines the services Calzado Desvalls offers under the Iati Seguros brand, and helps expanding this recently renewed brand with a whole new imagery. Project made while working at BUM. You can watch the video on Vimeo.
The big design theory(2010)
A tribute to international typographic style, tweaking five known statements into a personal manifesto. Neue Helvetica, inclined text, toying with typography and classic HKS colours made these business cards very popular, featured in several sites showcasing business cards, including My Own Business Cards #2 book by Marc Praquin, and For Print Only blog by Under Consideration. Not bad for a set of cheap cards digitally printed.
The love pocket diary(2008)
While working at RSB Media, at Christmas we wanted to give clients a present. It was after the start of the financial crisis, and we were looking for a positive and amusing message for the new year. Under the “Happy fucked up 2009” idea, we created a diary to keep record of clients' fucking life. I mean, their sexual life: partners, photos, impressions, grades… It included a list of sex positions to check (represented with pictograms in a fucking tribute to Otl Aicher) and, in the version for couples, also sex toys.
Mediterranean Consulting corporate intro(2010)
Worked together with Mediterranean Consulting for years, for their clients and also building their brand. This video was an important step in the path to change their communication strategy, creating imagery and a tone for the brand away from all the technical jargon to make their services comprehensible to a broader audience. Project in collaboration with David Medina. You can watch the video on Vimeo.
Polinyà separate waste collection signage(2006)
This collection of outdoors signage was meant to be displayed on the separate waste collection containers, and give information and instructions about what to toss where. It has to be institutional and sober, so I came up with these compositions of circles to go directly on the containers to add some playfulness, in accordance to the new identity using changing photographic elements for the separate waste collection program. Art direction by Jordi Vinyets at Dilema.
First project of pack design I got involved. A waxing and cosmetics brand for professionals, most of them printed in one or two spot colors, with information in four languages. Very challenging. The examples below are from two sub brands, one for chocolate based products, another one for men. Those allowed changes from the mother brand. Art direction by Jordi Vinyets at Dilema.
Baroque music seasonal concerts poster(2008)
Society of Friends of Antique Music in Madrid needed a poster with information of the concerts for the season. It was a pro bono project, so I had creative freedom. Four lines representing the position of strings on a bowed string instrument as a symbol of baroque music, and a grid with all the information on a grid on the right third. Designed to be sober avoiding cliché and grab attention hanging on St. Nicholas church, where concerts took place.
This is a student project in my first year doing Digital Design at Istituto Europeo di Design. An art community where projects are displayed as living forms, body parts are added timely, size depending of media impact. Tags (search terms, authors) act as petri dishes containing the living forms (projects), and can be combined, so inner circle contains projects matching both tags, and outer circle contain partial matches. Although media impact may be not the best way to evaluate art, project was focused on data and I find the interface metaphor still relevant.
St. Paul's School(2011)
An elegant vintage look for this site for an exclusive private trilingual school in Barcelona. Being direct, simple and authentic, and reminiscent of old time school supplies, emphasizing St. Paul's School long tradition and parents desire to educate their children in old fashioned values. Unfortunately, this is a rejected proposal made for Totbits.
Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum bumpers(2010)
This is a student project in my last year doing Digital Design at Istituto Europeo di Design. In collaboration with Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, we have to create bumpers for the audiovisual material published by the Museum for both their own website, and their educational material resource EducaThyssen. A key aspect is the period (between 18th century and 20th century, from Baroque to Pop Art) including the whole collection of the museum, and their vocation to show the connections and evolution of artists and movements through this period. I wanted to be accurate, so I created a path through this period in five steps: flat, perspective, (the dramatic use of) light, formalism and abstraction. And using circles/spheres and squares/cubes, represented all these steps. Then added the lines with data (represented by numbers so it could be used for different languages) represent the analytical goal of the museum. Watch my proposal on Vimeo.
